EMPOWERMENT WORKS WILL BE DONE BY DETERMINING EARTHQUAKE SAFETY
Within the scope of the second phase works of the mosque, its maintenance and repair will continue.
In the studies, it was taken into account that the Hagia Sophia Mosque, a temple dating back to 15 centuries, was affected by various earthquakes throughout history.
Static and earthquake-related performance analyzes of the entire building, including the minarets, are carried out in collaboration with expert engineers.
According to the results of the analysis, the earthquake safety of the building, including the minarets, will be determined and necessary strengthening works will be carried out.
In the first phase of the restorations that will be carried out gradually over the years in Hagia Sophia, concrete mortar will be cleaned on the exterior of the mosque.
The work will proceed in line with board-approved restoration projects.
After all concrete mortars have been cleaned, it is planned to document these facades again with three-dimensional scanning.
After the safe steel platform work scaffolding is installed around the minarets, the applications will begin according to the results of the static and earthquake performance analyses.
