Hanyia discussed with Mladenov several key issues regarding current situation in the Gaza Strip. The two briefed each other on the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the efforts being exerted to ease the crisis.
During the meeting, the so-called ‘Jewish nation-state’ bill, the continued break-ins of Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli settlers, and the repercussions of such aggression on the Palestinians’ holy sites were discussed.
The Hamas’ top leader urged the U.N. to immediately intervene to put an end to such dangerous policies.
Both sides reviewed the crisis that hit UNRWA following the severe cuts to its funding, its repercussions on the humanitarian and political conditions of the Palestine’s refugees, and the latest Israeli aggression on Gaza, as well as the efforts exerted to prevent an escalation of the situation in the coastal enclave.
Hanyia further briefed Mladenov the demolition of Khan al-Ahmar, the storming of West Bank camp of al-Dehaisha, and the ongoing arrest campaigns launched by the Israeli Occupation against the Palestinian people, the last among them was kidnapping the Palestinian writer Lama Khater from her house in a raid at dawn on Tuesday, while handing him a picture showing Khater bidding farewell to her son before being detained by the Israeli Occupation Forces.
