Hamas has welcomed the resolution confirming that the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) was the capital of the Palestinian state of "East Jerusalem".

Jerusalem" was the capital of an independent Palestinian state. US President Trump announced on December 6, 2017 that he recognized Jerusalem as "the capital of Israel" and ordered his embassy in Tel Aviv to move to Jerusalem.
