While the whole of Turkey was injured by the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, every area was seriously damaged.

While the education area is one of the most damaged areas, the President of the Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞ-DER) Hamdi Sürücü made statements about the works in the earthquake area.

“THINGS DONE ARE WORK THAT PEOPLE WITH ETHICS AND SPIRITUALITY CANNOT DO”

Stating that they took part in the works carried out by Milli Görüş organizations in the earthquake region, Sürücü stated that the size of the earthquake disaster was much larger than what was seen on television from the first day.

"People who plundered the nature gave zoning permission on the fault line, people who plundered the trust decorated the outside of the buildings and made the foundation and the main bearing parts rotten, those who plundered the trust in life looted the undestroyed places and the corpses for valuables in the corpses. These are things that moral and spiritual people cannot and cannot do," Sürücü said.

“HELP SHOULD BE TAKEN FROM OUR SPIRITUAL VALUES IN SUPPORT”

Reminding that education was suspended after the earthquake, Sürücü stated that teachers, students and education workers in the earthquake area should also be supported.

"It is positive steps that the Ministry of National Education gives the opportunity to appoint teachers who want to be appointed and students who want to transfer to equivalent schools. Education will of course continue from where it left off. The fact that most of the school buildings are solid is a good condition for education, but still, durability tests should be done again according to the last tremors of these buildings after the earthquake. Our moral values should also be helped in the psychological support necessary for the rehabilitation of education workers and their return to their normal lives," Sürücü added.

“WE NEED PEOPLE WITH HIGH ETHICS AND SPIRITUALITY”

Reminding the statements made by some academics on religion lessons, Sürücü stated that the statements made did not go beyond hostility to religion.

"The logic of some professors who had the title of religion would have been more robust and better measures would have been taken against earthquakes if the geography course had been substituted for the religion course. What they do not know is that they will not gain humanity with geography lessons. What should be done is to teach geography, physics, history, mathematics and religion in the best way without seeing any of them different from the other. As much as we need people who know science well, we also need people with high morals and spirituality who can apply scientific rules well," Sürücü added.
