Headscarf regulation comes to Parliament next week!

The proposal, which was prepared after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's call "Let's take the headscarf under the constitutional guarantee", has come to an end.

While the titles and details of the regulation become clear, the proposal is expected to be submitted to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) next week. In the proposal that Justice and Development Party (AKP) staff members and lawyers of the Ministry of Justice worked on, details about the family were also determined in addition to the headscarf. 
 

“TEXT REVISED” 

 
It was learned that after the AKP's meetings with the political parties that have groups in the Parliament, the previously prepared text was revised. During the meetings of AKP staff with other parties, they reconsidered the regulation regarding the headscarf and family, taking into account the objections. It is expected that the prepared work will be presented to the Parliament next week after being discussed with President Erdoğan and the AKP Central Executive Board (MYK). 
 

HEADSCARF EXPRESSION NOT INCLUDED 

 
In the proposal that the AKP is working on, it is planned to amend Articles 24 and 41 of the Constitution. According to the proposal, it is stated that the headscarf expression will not be used and the expressions ‘open and closed’ will be included. In the proposal, related family, it is said that "mother is woman, father is man". 
 

BABACAN COMPLETED PRELIMINARY INTERVIEWS 

 
Democracy and Progress (DEVA) Party Chairman Ali Babacan visited Good (IYI) Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener before the Six Opposition Parties summit to be held at the beginning of the week. Babacan held bilateral meetings this week as he will host the Six Opposition Parties summit on November 14. Babacan visited Meral Akşener at the IYI Party Headquarters and concluded the bilateral meetings. Babacan also visited Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Saadet Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu, Future (Gelecek) Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu and Democrat Party Chairman Gültekin Uysal this week.
