‘Sağlık-Sen’ Labour Union Chairman Semih Durmuş called on the Social Security Institution (SSI) and asked for the prices of the Health Implementation Communiqué (SUT) to be increased. Emphasizing that health financing policies play a fundamental role in the management of the Turkish health system, Durmuş said, “As it is known, SSI is the main determinant in the financing of health and determining the prices of health services in our country. All public and private health institutions in our country provide services to the citizens in agreement with the SSI, and these services are paid on the basis of SUT.”
ADDITIONAL PAYMENT CANNOT BE TAKEN
Pointing out that SUT prices were not updated, “Therefore, hospital revenues were in same level due to the inadequacy of SUT prices. The incomes of all healthcare professionals, especially physicians, whose additional payments are indexed to hospital incomes due to SUT prices, which did not increase sufficiently in line with the economic parameters over the years, decreased every year and in many places additional payments have become unavailable. One of the main sources of the problems experienced today is insufficient SUT prices. SUT prices should be increased satisfactorily as soon as possible in order to prevent the income loss of healthcare workers and to distribute performance additional payments in an equitable manner. This step is inevitable for the future of the health system and health workers,” Durmuş added.
