Citizens turned to vocational courses against the economic crisis and unemployment, which started with the pandemic, and increased even more with the Russia-Ukraine War. Public Education Centers managed by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) broke records in applications. While citizens can gain new professions in the Public Education Centers where vocational training is provided, the certificates obtained as a result of the trainings are given officially.
THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS INCREASED 81 PERCENT IN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS OF 2022
With the vocational trainings given by Public Education Centers, citizens can obtain certificates outside of their field of work. While citizens trying to take measures against economic problems and unemployment have turned to vocational training as a way, the number of applications to Public Education Centers has increased exorbitantly in the last month. In 997 Public Education Centers located in 81 provinces, 602,282 citizens in January 2022, 725,270 citizens in February, benefited the courses. In March, the number of participants increased by 81 percent to 1,314,061. Thus, 2,641,613 citizens benefited from public education courses in the first three months of 2022.
198 PERCENT INCREASE BETWEEN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS OF 2021 AND THE FIRST 3 MONTHS OF 2022
Although the increase in the number of citizens benefiting from Public Education Centers is 81 percent on a monthly basis, the rate is even higher when compared to 2021. It was revealed that there was a 198 percent increase between the number of citizens benefiting from the courses in the first three months of 2021 and the number of people benefiting from the courses in the first three months of 2022. Citizens evaluate the training given by Public Education Courses as an additional way against economic problems and unemployment.
2,092,255 PEOPLE REGISTERED FOR VOCATIONAL COURSES IN 2022
While there are courses in many fields in Public Education Centers, vocational courses are coming one of the most registered fields by the citizens. Vocational courses aim to enable citizens to develop themselves professionally or to acquire a new profession. While the number of citizens applying to vocational courses in 2022 was 2,092,255, the food sector and technology field led the courses opened the most.
