While teacher candidates are waiting for an announcement regarding the appointment of teachers, Minister of Education Yusuf Tekin announced yesterday that 20 thousand teachers will be appointed.
While the minister's statement drew reactions, Turkish Education Union Chairman Talip Geylan made statements regarding the appointment.
Geylan pointed out the insufficient number of 20 thousand appointments and said that hundreds of thousands of teacher candidates and their families were greatly disappointed.

While the statement drew reaction, The union Chairman Talip Geylan drew attention to the inadequacy of the appointment.
Drawing attention to teacher shortages, Geylan stated that the number of paid teachers in 79 provinces is 72 thousand 723, the norm need is 101 thousand 350, and the number of retired teachers is 23 thousand 670.
"The number of teachers who will start working in the 2024-2025 academic year after 9 months will be only 20 thousand. Hundreds of thousands of teacher candidates and their families were subjected to great disappointment. In addition, President Erdoğan's promise that the interview would be canceled was also dashed. Mr. Yusuf Tekin stated that appointments will be made with 50 percent KPSS and 50 percent interview score. The interview practice in which 20 thousand teacher candidates will give lectures for 45 minutes is a situation that cannot be carried out safely. Even if it were, it is not possible to provide justice in any interview," Geylan added.
