On the way to the local elections, two things are spoken; past 5 years, next 5 years! If the president is evaluated over past 5 years the personality comes out, and if the performance is avaluated the mentality comes to the fore. The fact that the many of the past presidents are not nominated (or even some of them are dismissed) shows that; the one who evaluates personalities had evaluated. So, it is supposed to be faced with the mentality.  In terms of mentality; it is referred to the “94 soul” and a new alternative is being sought! Then; let’s look at the future by taking lessons from the past.

Since there are 13 parties in the election, let’s discuss the future projection of each party’s candidate. Those who cannot take themselves from the past cannot do this. And those who achieve this realize that the alliances are shielding the future prediction of the electorate as if the two parties are going to the election. This awareness can open up a new alternative. Otherwise, if it is being acted as if there are just two candidates, no third path can be found. If we will evaluate the future through the mistakes of the past, we will not be able to open a new page!

If the election loses its local character and is generalized, those who voted in the past six general elections begin to question the point we arrived at. The point we arrived at, is the point we should reach? The point reached in the economy, social life, foreign policy is the point we should reach? Can a country where inflation, exchange rate and unemployment are constantly increasing be ranked in the top ten of the world? Can the “New Turkey” be build with a society that living a social life which social unrest and insecurity is increasing? Can the peace prevail in a region where there is insecurity in foreign policy and urban life and the trend of the destruction of the poverty and environment is increasing?

While there are things that need to be done, problems to be solved, we cannot lose time.  The point we arrived at is in a dimension that cannot be slurred over with the discussions of homeland, nation, flag, religion. Everybody knows: “the one who loves his/her country is the one who does his/her duty best” and “the lord of the nation is the one who serves the nation”! Moreover, regardless of the election results, there is more than 4 years in front of the parliament and the president.  In stead of pushing the electorate’s preference to be reflected in ballot box, we must read the choice one will make correctly.  Because the decision of the nation, as it determines the point we reached, is sufficient to determine the point next. Since we are going to the local elections; the point will be overcome with the penetration of city-dwellers.
