As the end of the education period approaches, activities are organized in many educational institutions. The most striking of these activities is the festival organizations of the universities. ÖĞ-DER Conscious Teachers Association Adana Branch President Hüseyin Tan made a statement about the end-of-year activities held in schools.
“TO HELP OUR STUDENTS IS OUR MISSION AS EDUCATORS”
ÖĞ-DER Conscious Teachers Association Adana Branch President Hüseyin Tan said, “It is natural to organize social and cultural activities for students in our schools. However; It is the duty of all our administrators and teachers to pay attention to some issues while organizing these programs. It is appropriate to organize such programs in our schools if our schools have a suitable hall or garden, or if there is no suitable place in their own school, they should be held in the appropriate halls of other schools or government institutions. Because we need to make programs where we can control our students and take responsibility for them. It is our duty as educators to take care of our students who have been entrusted to us.”
“OUR GENERATIONS HAVE BEEN THE WHEEL OF THE COLONIALISM”
Tan added, "Organizing such activities in hotels or entertainment halls outside of our schools or government institutions makes our students vulnerable to dangers." He said, “On the other hand, very high fees put the parents in a difficult situation. This causes inequality of opportunity in education among students. As in many fields, there are global crises in the field of education as well. As a result of the crises in education, generations have shifted to a secular life and a deist belief. While the danger is so great, we need to make counter moves against the powers that make education a global tool of colonialism. Our generations have become the wheels of this colony.”
