'Colonial Day' event was held at Pakistan's Embassy in Ankara...

Pakistani Ankara Ambassador Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi emphasized that the change in status is an attack on changing the identity structure of the region. Fatih Aydın, Deputy Chairman of the Felicity (Saadet) Party, also attended the program.

With the constitutional amendment made by India, the special status offered to the people living in the Jammu-Kashmir region was abolished, paving the way for the resettlement of Hindus in the region. With the regulation made on August 5, 2019, the change in the law in the Jammu-Kashmir region, disregarding the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, was reacted with the Colonial Day event. While reacting to the program held in front of the embassy residence by the Pakistani Embassy in Ankara and the regulation of the Indian Government in violation of international law, Pakistani Ankara Ambassador Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi stated that changing the status of Kashmir means denial of the rights of Kashmiris.

"With the status change, the promises made to the Kashmiris of the right to self-determination for seventy-four years have not been kept," he said.

KEEP YOUR PROMISES

Calling on India and the United Nations to keep their promises, Qazi noted that Turkey's stance on the Kashmir issue is exemplary, "Pakistanis and Kashmiris are grateful to their Turkish brothers for this principled stance. According to Turkey's approach, Pakistani and Indian authorities should talk about this issue and Pakistan accepts it wholeheartedly," he added.

STATUS CHANGE AN ATTACK AGAINST THE DEMOGRAPHIC STRUCTURE OF THE PEOPLE OF KASHMIR

Underlining that the change in the special status given to Kashmir is an attack on the identity of the Kashmiri people, Qazi said, "This issue, which continued in Kashmir from the beginning of this problem until 2019, has today become an attack on the demographic structure of Kashmir and therefore on the identity of Kashmiris. We must not allow this. So far, no occupying power has succeeded in defeating the righteous."

POLITICIANS ATTENDED THE EVENT

Saadet Party Deputy Chairman for Social Affairs Fatih Aydın, AK Party Ankara Deputy Asuman Erdoğan and embassy employees attended the Colonial Day event held in front of Pakistan's Ankara Embassy residence.
