Inflation has exceeded 50 percent!
According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 4,81 percent and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 7,22 percent on a monthly basis in February. Annual inflation was recorded as 54,44 percent in consumer prices and 105,01 percent in domestic producer prices. Considering the 12-month averages as of February, consumer prices increased by 25,98 percent and domestic producer prices increased by 56,83 percent. In December 2021, annual inflation was recorded as 48,69 percent.
HIGHEST MONTHLY INCREASED IN FOOD
In terms of main expenditure groups, the groups with the highest monthly increase in February were food and non-alcoholic beverages with 8,41 percent, household goods with 7 percent, and health with 6,39 percent. The main groups that showed the least monthly increase in February were clothing and shoes with 0,30 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 0,44 percent and housing with 1,49 percent.
KITCHEN INFLATION 64,47 PERCENT
The highest annual increase in CPI is 75,75 percent transportation, household goods with 64,83 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 64,47 percent. The main groups with the lowest increase compared to February 2021 were determined as communication with 11,89 percent, education with 22,24 percent, clothing and shoes with 26,87 percent, respectively. In February, while the average price of 53 of 409 items in the index decreased, the average price of 24 items remained unchanged, while the average price of 332 items increased.
ANNUAL INFLATION ACCORDING TO ENAG 123,8 PERCENT
The Inflation Research Group (ENAG), composed of independent economists and academics, also announced its own data. Accordingly, inflation increased by 5,44 percent in February. According to the calculations of the group, the inflation increase in the last 12 months has reached 123,8 percent.
MOST HIKE IN CAULIFLOWER IN FEBRUARY
According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), the highest increase in consumer prices in February was seen in cauliflower with 88,51 percent. Cauliflower hike is followed by the price of zucchini by 79,11 percent, tomato with 53,51 percent, parsley with 53,06 percent. Other products with the highest price increase in February included lettuce with 49,01 percent, bell peppers with 48,90 percent, and cucumbers with 41,84 percent. Last month, the highest price decrease was in children's sweaters with 10,53 percent. This was followed by children's boots with 7,39 percent, women's sweatshirts with 6,39 percent, women's cardigans with 6,28 percent, and coat anorak (for children) with 6,03 percent.

In the last 20 years, the incredible increases in fuel prices, especially in the last few years, both multiply inflation and make the citizens suffer.
