Due to the law no. 5510 enacted by the AKP in 2008, the need to make new regulations arose when the pensions, which decrease every month as they work and pay premiums, reached ridiculous levels.
Each arrangement is presented as a new gospel.
But there are two facts that have been overlooked. First of all, the reason for the decrease in pensions is the legal change made by the current government. Second, the increases to the lowest pension are at the level of, and sometimes below, the increases that are required by law to be granted to retirees.
The 6-month inflation announced by TURKSTAT is 42.65 percent, the increase in the lowest pension is 40 percent.
After the inflation figures announced by TURKSTAT the previous day, an increase of 41.69 percent was made in the salaries and wages of public servants and civil servant retirees, effective from July.
Thus, the lowest civil servant salary, including family allowance, increased to 9,105 liras, and the lowest civil servant pension to 6,078 liras. The lowest Social Security Institution pension (before 2000) was 4,678 TL, and after 2000 it was 3,500 TL.
