Inflation reaches 50 percent in Turkey!

With the effect of electricity and natural gas price hikes, consumer inflation was 11.10 percent in January, while annual inflation rose to 48.69 percent.

According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 11.10 percent and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 10.45 percent on a monthly basis in January.
 
Annual inflation was 48.69 percent in consumer prices and 93.53 percent in domestic producer prices.
 
Considering the 12-month averages as of January, consumer prices increased by 22.58 percent and domestic producer prices increased by 49.93 percent. In December 2021, annual inflation was recorded as 36.08 percent.
 

FOOD INFLATION INCREASED 10.9 PERCENT

 
In terms of main expenditure groups, the groups with the highest monthly increase in January were alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 21.9 percent, housing with 18.91 percent, and household goods with 12.82 percent, respectively. In the food group, monthly inflation was 10.9 percent. The group, which showed a monthly decrease in January, was determined as clothing and shoes with 0.24 percent. The main groups that showed the least increase were education with 1.19 percent, communication with 2.16 percent and various goods and services with 8.09 percent.
 

INFLATION IN THE KITCHEN EXCEEDED 55 PERCENT

 
The highest annual increase in CPI was seen in transportation with 68.89 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 55.61 percent, and household goods with 54.53 percent. The main groups with the lowest increase compared to January 2021 were determined as communication with 10.76 percent, education with 18.67 percent, clothing and shoes with 25.32 percent, respectively. In January, while the average price of 38 out of 409 items in the index decreased, the average price of 17 items remained unchanged, while the average price of 354 items increased.
 

THE LOWEST PRICE INCREASE IN ISTANBUL!

 
According to TURKSTAT data, the highest monthly increase of 12.76 percent was in the "Balıkesir, Çanakkale" region among the 26 regions that were at the 2nd level of the Statistical Region Unit Classification (NUTS). According to the 12-month averages, the highest increase was realized in the “Bursa, Eskişehir, Bilecik” region with 25.94 percent.
 
Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun, Rize, Artvin, Gümüşhane and Kastamonu, Çankırı, Sinop and 54,92 percent followed this region with the highest annual increase, followed by Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun, Rize, Artvin, Gümüşhane and Amasya regions with 55,87 percent.
 
The lowest price increase was calculated in the “Istanbul” region with 43.83 percent.
 

MOST HIKE CAME FOR ELECTRICITY IN JANUARY

 
On the basis of consumer prices, the highest price increase in January was seen in electricity prices with 69.97 percent. According to TURKSTAT data, the increase in electricity prices was followed by eggplant with 54.74 percent, bell pepper with 54.27 percent and cucumber with 45.81 percent. Other products with the highest price increase in January include zucchini with 41.99 percent, pudding with 37.74 percent, driver training course fee with 37.57 percent, beer with 36.33 percent, raki with 35.56 percent, and raki with 35.56 percent. Tomatoes with 32.94 percent and subway fares with 32.12 percent.
 

FEBRUARY RENTAL INCREASING RATE 22.58 PERCENT

 
With the announcement of the inflation figures for January, the rent increase rate in February, which concerns millions of households, was also announced. According to the data announced by TURKSTAT, consumer prices increased by 11.10 percent on a monthly basis and by 48.69 percent on an annual basis. Compared to the 12-month averages, there was an increase of 22.58%. The 12-month average CPI is the determining factor in the increase in rental prices. Accordingly, the rate of increase for citizens who will make a new lease agreement in February will be 22.58 percent.
 

ENAG'S INFLATION EXCEEDED 3 DIGITS

 
According to the Inflation Research Group (ENAG), the CPI increased by 15.52 percent in January and by 114.87 percent on an annual basis. ENAG's inflation figures for December were also at the level of 82.81 percent. According to ENAG data, the group with the highest increase in January was the Electric Fuel product group with 73.82 percent.
