Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif will visit Turkey on Wednesday as the crisis between Qatar and other Gulf states deepens, according to a Turkish diplomatic source.
Zarif will discuss Syria, regional issues and bilateral ties, the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, said.
He is expected to meet his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu during the visit.
On Monday, five Arab countries -- Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Yemen -- cut ties with Qatar, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism.
Qatar denied the accusations, saying the move was "unjustified".
The new escalation came two weeks after the website of Qatar’s official news agency was allegedly hacked by unknown individuals who reportedly published statements attributed to the country’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The incident triggered a diplomatic row between Qatar and its neighbors.
The visit also comes in the aftermath of a key moment in Iran that came under multiple attacks early Wednesday.
Gunmen opened fire at Iran’s parliament and the shrine of Islamic Republic's founder Ayatollah Khomeini in the capital Tehran, killing at least six people. Daesh reportedly claimed responsibility for the attacks.
