With the humanitarian diplomacy of Turkey and Iraq, Iraqi families in Syria continue to return to their homes. 161 more Iraqis who fled to Syria due to the conflict and civil war in Iraq set off to return to their countries with Turkey's humanitarian diplomacy efforts. As a result of the humanitarian diplomacy efforts of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, the return of Iraqis who had to migrate to Syria continues. Civilian people fleeing the conflict and war environment from different parts of Iraq were brought to the buffer zone at the Akçakale Border Gate after customs clearance.
“WE SEND BACK 161 IRAQ CITIZENS TO THEIR COUNTRIES”
As a result of the joint efforts of the Iraqi Embassy, IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation and the Turkish Migration Administration, Iraqi families who have been stranded in Syria for years have been processed through the Tel Abyad border gate. Afterwards, Iraqis were checked by the teams of the Iraqi Consulate and Şanlıurfa Directorate of Migration Management. Food and water were provided by the crew. After the checks, the Iraqis returned directly to their countries by buses via Turkey. Mehmet Altıntaş from IHH Humanitarian Diplomacy Unit; “As part of our humanitarian diplomacy, we are sending off 161 Iraqi citizens to their countries. All Iraqi citizens here are children, women and the elderly. You see next to me right now, this brother's name is Said. He didn't let go of my hand for a moment. He immediately grabs the hand of the person he sees around and tries to hug him. We understood that Said is longing for his father. I would like to thank all our volunteers and donors who support these children.”
