Iraqi President Fuad Masum arrived in Kuwait on Monday with an accompanying delegation to hold talks with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.
Masum was received upon his arrival by top Kuwaiti officials, including both the emir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.
Masum’s delegation includes Iraqi Interior Minister Qasem al-Araji and a number of other senior Iraqi officials.
Monday’s visit is the second by an Iraqi president to Kuwait since Iraq’s disastrous 1990 invasion of the country under Saddam Hussein.
In 2008, then Iraqi President Jalal Talabani paid an official visit to the small oil-rich Gulf kingdom.
