Iraqi Qudus Samarayi, who wanted to prevent the desecration of the Qur'an in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, but was stopped by the police, said, "I don't care if I'm a Danish citizen because I'm trying to preserve the Holy Quran. I do not regret defending the Quran."

On July 24, Samarayi, who wanted to prevent the anti-Islamic and ultra-nationalist "Danske Patrioter (Danish Patriots)" group from burning the Quran, was attacked by members of the group.
The police, who separated the parties, gave the Qur'an, which he took away from the woman's hand, to the group again, and Samarayiexpressed his reaction by shouting.
"No one can burn the Quran, shame on you," he said.
According to local media reports, Samarayi was accused of "attempted theft", after which the police spoke for a while and questioned his identity information.
NO SUPPORT FROM IRAQ EMBASSY
Samarayi, who is a Danish citizen, stated that he did not accept the burning of the Holy Quran and that what happened deeply saddened him.
"I saw a burned Qur'an on the side of the road and immediately removed it. When the burner saw that I was carrying it, he immediately attacked me and I was slapped in the shoulder. I called the police and when the police came to the scene, the person who burned the Quran told the police that I had stolen his belongings," Samarayi said.

Samarayi, who said that the case in question is continuing due to the slander against him.
"I don't care if I'm a Danish citizen because I'm trying to preserve the Holy Quran. I do not regret defending the Quran," he said.
Saying that the said action took place in front of the Iraqi Embassy, Samarayi also stated that he received no support from the said embassy.
