The 9th Islamic Economics Workshop was held under the leadership of the Islamic Economics Research Center (IKAM). While important names from the field of economics participated in the program at the campus of Istanbul Commerce University in Sütlüce, "The Problem of Development and Underdevelopment" was discussed.
The Islamic Economics Award Ceremony was also held in the program, which lasted for two days on Friday and Saturday. In this context, the Islamic Economics Application Award for 2021 was given to the Karzı Hasen Foundation, which carries out its works for the establishment, protection and revival of the family institution in order to keep national and spiritual values alive.
Abdul Azim Islahi, who is a professor at the Islamic Economics Institute of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, won the Islamic Economics Contribution Award, while the Islamic Economics Research Award went to Prof. Dr. Mabid Ali Al-Jarhi, a faculty member at Ankara Social Sciences University, Faculty of Islamic Sciences. In the program organized under the leadership of IKAM, the Islamic Economics Thesis Award was given to Cem Korkut.
‘ISLAMIC ECONOMY AIMS TO GET LIBERATED FROM COLONIALISM AND EXPLOITATION’
Another person who made the opening speeches of the 9th Islamic Economics Workshop was Assoc. Dr. Lütfi Sunar, Chairman of the ILKE Foundation. Noting that the whole world does not develop under equal conditions, Sunar stated that the indicators of poverty and deprivation are at a high level.
"We see that a part of the world still has a development problem. Islamic economics emerged for the whole world to live a prosperous life. Islamic economics is an Islamic thought developed to get rid of colonialism and exploitation," he said.
