The platform of seven Islamic organizations, called K7, of which approximately 200 mosques are members, together with legal experts, prepared an action plan that guides and describes the prohibition of destroying the Holy Quran in demonstrations in accordance with European and Dutch laws.
The action plan, which consists of 5 articles and was prepared on the grounds that the destruction of the Holy Quran during demonstrations is against freedom of religion, was sent to the Union of Dutch Municipalities (VNG) and the Association of Mayors (NGB) by K7 officials.
The plan prepared for mayors and council members states that from the moment an application is made for a demonstration that disrespects the Quran, it is necessary to be in constant contact with the relevant parties, to distinguish between the right to demonstrate and disrespectful actions such as burning and destroying the Quran, to distinguish between the right to demonstrate and disrespect the Quran. The evaluation of fundamental rights, including freedom and similar rights, the protection of religious peace and the prevention of incitement to hatred are described.
With the plan they want to implement, Islamic organizations aim to ensure greater harmony and peace in society and clarity within the framework of freedom of expression.
Rijnmond Islamic Organizations Platform (SPIOR) Director Nourdin el Ouali, in his statement to the AA correspondent, said that Edwin Wagensveld, the leader of the racist and far-right Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West (PEGIDA) movement, attacked the Holy Quran in different cities.
He said it was provocative, humiliating and intended to provoke.
