The Israeli army on Thursday shelled a post of forces loyal to Bashar al-Assad regime in southwest Syria’s Rif Dimashq province, according to Israeli media.

Three Syrian regime soldiers were injured in the shelling, including one in critical condition, Israeli media including Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

The Syrian army post was located near the village of Harfa in Qatana district.

Earlier Thursday, Yedioth Ahronoth said a rocket was allegedly fired in the afternoon from Syria that landed in an open area in Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.

According to the newspaper, the rocket was believed to have fallen into Israel due to the fighting in Syria. No casualties or damages were reported in the incident.

The past months have witnessed similar incidents, in which the Israeli army, retaliated by bombing the positions of the Syrian regime's army, killing several of its soldiers.

Israel occupied most of the Golan Heights in 1967.
