Istanbul dams sound an alarm: Water level dropped to 21 percent

The occupancy rate in dams supplying water to Istanbul decreased to 21.01 percent.

According to Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKİ) data, the occupancy rate in the dams, which was 21.69 on October 15, was measured at 21.01 percent as of today.
 
The amount of water is 10.46 percent in Istrancalar, 10.35 percent in Terkos, 6.14 percent in Sazlıdere, 22.96 percent in Alibey, 4.08 percent in Büyükçekmece, 44.88 percent in Ömerli, It was recorded as 32.43 percent in Darlık, 16.5 percent in Elmalı, 3.35 percent in Pabuçdere and 5.96 percent in Kazandere.
 
The amount of water in the dams and ponds that provide water to the city, which has a maximum water accumulation volume of 868 million 683 thousand cubic meters, remained at the level of 182 million 5 thousand cubic meters.
 
In 2023, 607 million cubic meters of water were taken from Yeşilçay and Melen, which provide water to the city apart from the dams.
 
Occupancy rates of the last 9 years
 
According to İSKİ statistics, dam occupancy rates as of October 21 were 66.22 percent in 2015, 40.43 percent in 2016, 51.69 percent in 2017, 52.76 percent in 2018, 44.37 percent in 2019. While it was 32.07 percent in 2020, 47.03 percent in 2021, and 43.48 percent in 2022, today's rate is recorded as 21.01 percent.
