Twenty-seven-year-old Ozcan Ozsoy was among the thousands of people who took to the streets of the Turkish capital Ankara to oppose the coup attempt by FETO.
Ozsoy suffered a gunshot wound to the head that night and had been receiving treatment in the capital’s Gazi University hospital ever since.
His elder brother, Tekin Ozsoy, in an interview with the Yeni Safak daily, said he and his brother had gone to the Gendarmerie General Command in the Bestepe district of Ankara on the night of July 15.
Tekin Ozsoy said he and his late brother were together until 2 a.m., but then lost sight of each other.
"I found him in hospital in the morning; he had been shot in the head. Unfortunately we lost him," he told the daily.
Ozcan Ozsoy, who was previously visited in hospital by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other ministers during his treatment, was married and had a child.
The martyr will be buried today in Ankara.
