The Supreme Court of Appeals announced its decision about Canan Kaftancıoğlu, Istanbul Provincial Chairperson of the Republican People's Party (CHP). The 3rd Penal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeals upheld the 4 years 11 months and 20 days portion of the 9 years 8 months and 20 days' prison sentence given to Kaftancıoğlu for 5 different crimes.
The Supreme Court overturned the 4 years and 2 months prison sentence given to Kaftancıoğlu for two crimes. In another decision, it was reported that Kaftancıoğlu was acquitted of the crime of ‘making propaganda for a terrorist organization’ 7/2 of the Anti-Terror Law.
After the decision was announced, Felicity (Saadet) Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu called her and wished her well soon.

Making a statement about the decision, Saadet Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu said: “No one should be worried or despair! We will restore the judicial institution, which has become the focus of political decisions. Those who use the justice mechanism to silence the opposition should not think that they will gain political gain from this! Justice will be needed by everyone one day.”
