Saadet Party Konya Deputy Abdulkadir Karaduman spoke at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) regarding the tobacco law, which is at the center of the discussions. Speaking at the General Assembly of the Parliament, Karaduman said, “The tariff applied by your government, which you claim to be local and national, to the Adıyaman tobacco producer Uncle Abuzer clearly shows how you serve American companies. While the patented cigarettes of British American Tobacco are sold even in the most remote villages of Adıyaman, the tobacco produced in Çelikhan cannot be taken to another district, and tobacco producers are victimized.”
“THE POWER OF AMERICAN UNCLE SAM”
Drawing attention to the problems experienced by the Adıyaman producer, Karaduman said, “While Uncle Abuzer from Adıyaman is bringing water from a thousand streams to sell the tobacco he planted and paying the price, the kiosks are overflowing with Uncle Sam's cigarettes. Even this example alone is enough for us to see the identity of your current power. In a word, it is not possible to be local and national with arrogance, It is only possible with protecting local producer against foreign capital. However, this power that embraces foreigners while undermining domestic production is not the power of Uncle Abuzer from Adıyaman, but the power of American Uncle Sam.”
“THE DISABLED PEOPLE SAY ENOUGH NOW”
Karaduman also met with the Saadet Party Disabled Coordination President İsrafil Bayrakçı and his management on the occasion of the December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. In the meeting, Bayrakçı stated that the disabled could not receive sufficient support from the state, especially in terms of social rights, and said, “We think that there are serious deficiencies in terms of both report arrangements and social assistance. While the state should eliminate the disadvantageous situations of disabled people, we see that different obstacles are emerging at this point.” Expressing the expectations of the disabled from the state, Bayrakçı added, “The disabled says enough is enough. We want to increase the quota for the disabled in public personnel recruitment and to keep the promises made. We want to get rid of the disadvantaged position of being disabled people and enjoy all social rights like a normal individual.”
“SOCIAL STATE PRINCIPLE SHOULD BE APPLIED FOR THE DISABLED”
Karaduman stated that every person is a candidate for disability and may encounter this at some point in his life, adding, “Man is precious as he was created and every person has the right to benefit from the blessings on earth. However, some individuals cannot reach their most basic rights due to their different characteristics. These features are barriers that limit an individual's mobility. Social states are obliged to guarantee the social security and needs of all their citizens without exception. Because the social state is obliged to provide all its citizens with a fair and adequate standard of living worthy of human dignity. In this sense, the state is responsible for the protection of the disabled, taking an active part in all areas of social life together with everyone and in all areas of economic, social, political, cultural and public, economic development. It should fulfill its duty in accordance with the principle of the social state, to benefit from the blessings of the society on an equal basis with other individuals in the society,” he said.
“THE MISSION OF THE GOVERNMENT IS TO PROVIDE AN OBSTACLE-FREE LIFE”
Noting that there are more than 10 million disabled people in our country, Karaduman said: “The duty of the government is to take steps to implement practices that will ensure an unhindered life and eliminate disadvantages/obstacles, and control them. It is solely responsible for the cases where it delays or does not take these steps.”
