Saadet Party Konya Deputy and Head of Youth Branch Abdulkadir Karaduman brought the increasing transportation expenses of civil servants to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Saadet Party Deputy Abdulkadir Karaduman said that the subsistence paid to the civil servants for moving expenses was far below the actual cost, and emphasized that the travel expense law should be regulated as soon as possible.
"According to the travel expense law, a civil servant who receives a subsistence allowance of 8,900 TL for his assignment from Ankara to Adana has to spend an average of 18,000 TL in order to move. The subsistence given to cover the additional burden incurred by the civil servant is not sufficient," Karaduman said.
Karaduman, who submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the request of Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, asked the ministry if there was any work related to the travel expense law, where civil servants had problems.
"REGULATION IS NEEDED"
Karaduman stated that in the long term, the travel expense law should be reconsidered and regulated.
"In order to eliminate the grievances as soon as possible and to prevent the emergence of new grievances; A temporary arrangement should be made in order to ensure that the 5 percent rate in subsection (c) of Article 45 of the travel expense law No. 6245 is applied as at least 25 percent," Karaduman added.
DID THE MINISTRY DO ANY STUDY?
Karaduman asked the following questions to Minister Bilgin;
"What is the total number of civil servants who had to move to another city in the first six months of 2022 due to assignment? What is the estimated total number for the second half of this year? Will a new regulation be made regarding the Continuous Duty Traveling paid to the appointed officers? Will the Continuous Duty Journey be increased in proportion to the rising costs? Are complaints received by your Ministry regarding the issue evaluated? Have you done any work on this subject in line with the complaints? Will you have joint work with the relevant Ministries to solve the problem?"
