Felicity (Saadet) Party Konya Deputy Abdulkadir Karaduman brought the complaints about electricity bills to the agenda of the Assembly. Karaduman, who submitted a written question to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the request of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Dönmez, reminded that there were complaints about electricity bills from many points in Turkey.
“Many citizens suffer from wrong billing and arbitrary practices of electricity distribution companies,” the following statements were included in the questionnaire:
"It is clear that these grievances are due to the fact that distribution companies pursue a profit motive before their aim to deliver electricity service. However, electricity, which is one of the basic needs, should be seen as a public service and should be prevented from being converted into a rent product."
“WHAT DO YOU DO REGARDING COMPLAINTS AND JUDGMENTAL APPLICATIONS?”
Summarizing the grievances of the citizens due to electricity in the parliamentary question, Karaduman listed the following questions with the request of Minister Dönmez:
What is the number of electricity subscribers in the last year due to electricity bill debt? What is the indebtedness ratio of households among these debtors?
What actions do you take in line with the complaints received by your ministry regarding electricity bills? Which unit within your ministry continues to work on this issue?
What works does your Ministry carry out to prevent arbitrary practices by electricity distribution companies across Turkey?
In the last year, have there been any legal investigations and any sanctions as a result of any electricity distribution company?
