Felicity (Saadet) Party Konya Deputy and Head of Youth Branch Abdulkadir Karaduman brought the issue to the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) due to the increase in stray dog attacks in different provinces. Karaduman, who submitted a question to the Presidency of the TBMM, with the request of the Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu to answer, asked whether the ministry was doing any work on the subject.
“SHOULD BE PROTECTED IN SHELTERS”
Noting that there were serious injuries due to the attack of stray dogs, Karaduman said, "As a result of these attacks, especially children are seriously injured, and those who are attacked can lose their lives. Stray dogs are a serious problem threatening life safety in all our provinces today. Of course, this issue should be evaluated by considering the right to live of all creatures and sensitivity should be shown for the solution of the problem. Leaving stray dogs out of town at random exacerbates the problem. It is possible to rehabilitate stray dogs or to take them under protection in shelters with the work your ministry in coordination with the municipalities will carry out."
“DO YOU GIVE ANY SUPPORT TO MUNICIPALITIES?”
Karaduman asked the following questions to the Minister of Interior Soylu:
“What studies does your ministry carry out for the rehabilitating of stray dogs?
Is there any work you carry out in coordination with municipalities to solve this problem?
What is the number of stray animal shelters in our country?
Are these shelters inspected by your ministry?
Do you provide any support to municipalities for the protection of animals in shelters?”
