Felicity (Saadet) Party Konya Deputy and Head of Youth Branch Abdulkadir Karaduman brought the problems of family physicians to the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

Karaduman, who submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the request of Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca to answer, drew attention to the need to resolve the victimization of family physicians, who provided important services during the Covid-19 pandemic process.

Karaduman underlined that the payments for healthcare workers should be made, "The fact that Covid payments are made to family physicians for a period of 3 months is a cause of grievance for family physicians, whose workload has increased due to the fact that polyclinics are not preferred during the epidemic process. Vaccination, examination, etc. It is obvious as a serious problem that their preferences in these matters are reflected to physicians as salary deductions. The fact that the current expense allowance, which is paid for personnel, materials, rent, invoices and other expenses of Family Health Centers, is lower than the increase in the minimum wage and the increase rate of other expense items makes it difficult to employ personnel and meet other needs," he said.

NEW REGULATIONS NEEDED

Karaduman said that many basic needs of Family Health Centers are met by physicians.

"Family physicians have to agree with another physician to take annual leave. This situation makes it very difficult for physicians to take annual leave. Increasing the quality of service is directly related to improving the working conditions of physicians. Therefore, it is urgent to make new regulations to eliminate the grievances experienced by family physicians," he added.

“CURRENT EXPENSE ALLOWANCE SHOULD BE ORGANIZED”

Karaduman asked the following questions about family physicians to the Minister of Health, Koca:

"What kind of a process does your ministry carry out to identify and solve the above-mentioned problems? What kind of work do you do for the elimination of grievances? Will you have an arrangement for unconditional payment of Covid payments to family physicians for one year, as well as to other healthcare professionals? Will you be working on reorganizing the current expense allowance and determining the allowance according to the needs of Family Health Centers?"
