Felicity (Saadet) Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu, who met with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP) the previous evening, met with Ahmet Davutoğlu, the Chairman of the Future Party, yesterday.
VICE PRESIDENTS ACCOMPANIED
During the meeting held at the Saadet Party Headquarters, Davutoğlu was accompanied by vice presidents Ayhan Sefer Üstün, Nedim Yamalı and Feridun Bilgin. After the meeting, which lasted for 2 hours and 15 minutes, the two leaders stood in front of the cameras and answered the questions of the members of the press.
KARAMOLLAOĞLU: “THE APPROACHES 20 YEARS AGO DIFFERENT FROM THE CURRENT”
Karamollaoğlu thanked Davutoğlu and his friends, saying that they paid a visit both to get well soon and to consult on the latest developments. Asked about the process initiated by the Council of Europe regarding Turkey upon the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), Karamollaoğlu said, “What President Erdoğan said about international organizations 20 years ago. I think you need to listen again. Mr. Tayyip's approaches 20 years ago and today are very different. It can not be binary. This attitude is not correct. You will take refuge in them when it comes to your business, and you cannot oppose them when it comes to your business. I am against this double standard. Confidence in the law in Turkey is on the middle. Not following the decisions made has become the slogan of the Justice and Development Party (AKP).” Regarding the influence document sent by the ruling deputies to the Van Provincial Mufti, Karamollaoğlu said, “This is the first time I've heard of a document called the influence document. I have the opinion that there has not been an evaluation that has not been with influence made so far. Unfortunately, this has been applied since the past," he added.
DAVUTOĞLU: “TURKEY IS IN A HISTORICAL PERIOD”
Thanking Karamollaoğlu and his friends for their hospitality, Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu said, "Once again, I wish Mr. Karamollaoğlu the best of luck. As you know, Turkey is at a historical turning point. Looking at the latest inflation figures shows the situation in Turkey. The government took it back to 2002 on corruption and prohibitions. In such a scenario, it is very difficult for Turkey to prepare itself for the coming years. Here, the responsibility rests on the shoulders of the ruling parties. The heavy burden of history rests on their shoulders. Messages are coming from everywhere this winter day. The responsibility of the parents and the elderly who cannot warm their baby is on their shoulders. Power is responsible for what it does. The opposition is also responsible for what they did not do or could not do. There were very good consultations on this issue with Mr. Karamollaoğlu and his team in here. As opposition parties, we are aware of our responsibilities."
“THE PRESIDENT HAS A HUGE CONFUSION IN THE MIND”
Regarding the Kavala decision of the ECHR, “There is a great confusion in the mind of the President. The ECHR is a court with a Turkish judge. At the same time, the Council of Europe is an organization founded by Turkey. We are talking about an institution that Turkish is accepted as the official language in there. We are the hosts of that institution. There is no other time when Turkey is left alone in the world and in Europe. The document sent to the Van Mufti is a form of corruption. In the past these would have happened on an individual basis. Events that used to be individual events have now become the system itself. It has become a disease in all institutions. We base the interview on a highly merit-based public employment,” Davutoğlu added.
