Reacting to the political ban and prison sentence given to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) President Ekrem İmamoğlu, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “I have a father-son relationship with Ekrem İmamoğlu.” Expressing that they are together as the Six Opposition Parties’ leaders, Kılıçdaroğlu said that they will bring democracy to the country together.
CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made statements regarding the agenda at his party's Parliamentary Group Meeting. Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was sentenced to 2 years, 7 months and 15 days in prison and a political ban, in the lawsuit filed against him for allegedly calling Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) members ‘stupid’, also attended the CHP Group Meeting.
“IMAMOĞLU IS LIKE MY SON”
Kılıçdaroğlu, about the imprisonment and political ban given to İmamoğlu, said, “I will tell you something that you do not know but those who know us closely, our friends and fellow travelers know well from this rostrum. We have a father-son relationship with Ekrem İmamoğlu. He is my son as much as he is the son of the CHP, it is my debt to take care of him. Now I call to the courtiers. Pull your car, this scale will not bear you.”
“WE ARE TOGETHER AS SIX OPPOSITION PARTIES LEADERS”
Emphasizing that the joint presidential candidate will emerge from the Six Opposition Parties, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “I know that Turkey is going through a difficult period. We will continue on our way with determination. We will continue with faith. We will bring peace, embracing and writing off each other’s debts to Turkey. We will embrace 85 million people without marginalizing anyone, I promise this to all my people. Our duty is to get Turkey out of the difficult atmosphere it is in today. To transform the institutions of the state into a process that can be produced by qualified people in Turkey. We will do all these patiently. We are six leaders together. We all think the same things. We defend democracy. We will either bring democracy to this country, or we will.”
