İbrahim Keresteci, the General Secretary of Union of Municipal and Private Administration Employees (Bem-Bir-Sen), affiliated with the Civil Servant Labour Union (Memur-Sen) Confederation, who took part in many levels of the National Vision (Milli Gorus) Movement throughout his life and carried out important works in the field of trade unionism, is commemorated with mercy and gratitude on the 12th anniversary of his death.
Having worked for Bem-Bir-Sen for many years, Keresteci has always been on the agenda with his civil society and local government works. Keresteci, who gives practical training programs and seminars in all provinces of Turkey on public trade unionism, local governments, public procurement law practices, public relations, effective communication, and social dialogue programs, as the general secretary of Bem-Bir-Sen, has been working in all provincial and district municipalities throughout the country, had the opportunity to examine the municipal practices on site.
HE MADE GREAT CONTRIBUTIONS TO UNIONS
An important name in the history of Turkish public unionism, Keresteci was born in 1968 in Ardeşen district of Rize. Keresteci graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature, has worked as a manager at various levels in Istanbul Bağcılar Municipality for 10 years since 1993. Keresteci worked as general education secretary and general secretary in the Union of Municipal and Private Administration Employees affiliated to Memur-Sen from 2003 until the day he passed away.
