"Memur-Sen" labour union Chairman Ali Yalçın and the accompanying delegation met with Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security.

During the meeting, Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Yalçın underlined that they demanded an additional increase in compensation for the losses in civil servant salaries.

"We stated that a regulation should be made here as well as the minimum wage regulation," he said.

Pointing out that tax regulation is necessary, Yalçın stated that it caused the losses of civil servants to increase.

"There is a case of going back with the scoop we took with the spoon about tax regulation. Our officers lose what they receive due to tax bases. We have expressed our expectation that tax bases will be fixed at 15 percent," he added.

"IMPROVEMENT SHOULD ALSO BE MADE TO CIVIL SERVANTS"

Stating that civil servants flee from metropolitan cities due to their living conditions, Yalçın underlined the need for an increase in civil servant salaries.

"The arrangement made in the minimum wage shows that the field is being read. We stated that these conditions apply to civil servants. We expressed that this should be recovered as soon as possible and an arrangement should be made here as well as the regulation on the minimum wage. We want the situation of public officials to be seen as soon as possible and we have expressed our expectation that an additional raise will be made in January," he said.
