The increase in the price of liquid sunflower oil, which was brought to the agenda by Milli Gazete with the news titled 'Mr. Oil' and 'Mr. Oil becomes Pasha', cannot be prevented.
Due to the increase in exchange rates and high inflation, 5 liters of liquid sunflower oil exceeded 100 TL. The biggest reason for the increase in oil prices is the farmer's inability to plant sunflowers and becoming dependent on imports due to the increase in cost, even though we have fertile lands.
5 LITER SUNFLOWER OIL EXCEEDED 100 TL
Liquid sunflower oil, which is indispensable for kitchens, has increased almost every month, especially in the last year. At the beginning of 2020, while 5 liters of liquid sunflower oil was in the band of 35-40 TL, at the end of the year it was based on 80 TL. While this is the case, the government has reset the Customs Duty on crude sunflower oil and safflower seed imports until the end of the year in order to prevent price increases in liquid sunflower oil. Due to the increase in the cost of the farmer and the import-based policy, the price of 5 liters of liquid sunflower oil exceeded 100 TL with the increase in exchange rates.

Despite the abundance of fertile lands, the increase in oil prices cannot be prevented in Turkey, which is the world leader in sunflower imports.
TAX RESET ON SUNFLOWER IMPORT
Due to the wrong agricultural policies in Turkey, sunflower production, like many agricultural products, does not satisfy the farmers. In order to prevent the rising trend of liquid sunflower oil prices, which have increased rapidly in the last few years, the import regime was changed in the Presidential decision published in the Official Gazette, and the Customs Duty on crude sunflower oil and safflower seed imports was zeroed until 31 December. It is estimated that Turkey, which is the leader in sunflower imports in the world, will maintain its leadership if it maintains these policies in the future.
