The school bell, which millions of students eagerly await, is ringing today with economic concerns and big problems... The economic problems that started with the pandemic continue to bend the back of the citizens day by day. The schools to be opened today put the parents of the students in a difficult situation. In the face of the increase in school expenses, parents had to give the last money they had to school expenses so that their children would not be embarrassed.

INCREASING PRICES BENT THE PARENTS' BACKS

Approximately 19 million students and 1,2 million teachers in primary and secondary education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education (MEB) will start the 2022-2023 academic year today. The exorbitant increases in the school expenses of students who will start school continue to make parents think brooding. In addition to the increases in the basic expenses of a student who will start a new school, products such as service fees and uniforms also suffered from exorbitant price increases. In this case, the money spent for a student is more than 5,000 Turkish Liras (TL).

PARENTS CONSIDER HOW TO FILL THE LUNCH BOX

Even though the minimum wage was increased to 5,500 TL, a parent with a minimum wage lost his resistance against the increasing prices and started to think about how he would cope with the expenses against the schools opened. While the opening of the schools causes excitement in the students, the parents continue to brood over. Parents began to think about how to fill the student's lunchbox in addition to school expenses.

ONLY STATIONERY IS PAID BETWEEN 1,000 TL AND 2,000 TL

The first item that parents grapple with in the black table is the stationery expenses. When looking at the prices of the basic shopping list for a student just starting school, the balance sheet is between 1,000 TL and 2,000 TL, while the amount to be spent depending on the quality of the shopping list can exceed 2,000 TL. While there is no only increase in the stationery expenses of the students, the increase in the service fees and uniform costs is also reflected on the parents.

EVEN AT THE MOST BASIC LEVEL, THE COST OF CLOTHING IS 1,500 TL

Even when only the most basic needs of students such as school clothes, tracksuits, and sports shoes are taken into account, the payment to be made is between 1,500 TL and 3,000 TL. Although there are different prices between public schools and private schools, these figures vary between 600 TL and 5,000 TL in private schools. With the exorbitant increases in the clothes that students will wear, a parent who buys only stationery and clothing products at the most affordable prices will have paid a total of 2,500 TL for these two titles.

GOING TO SCHOOL FROM 15 KILOMETER COSTS 15,000 TL

While the food prices, which are constantly increasing with successive hikes, bring to mind the question, "How will the lunch boxes be filled?", the transportation of students has become a growing burden with the hike decision taken recently. If a student studying in Ankara is more than 15 kilometers away from his home to school, the parent has to pay an annual service fee of 15,000 TL.
