The election process begins today for the local government elections to be held on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
 
Work and transactions from the beginning of the election to the voting day will be carried out according to the election calendar announced by the Supreme Electoral Board (YSK).
 
According to the election calendar for the local government elections to be held on Sunday, March 31, 2024, data reception and updating from MERNİS, which is used to update the voter registers, will be stopped tomorrow.
 
The listing of Mukhtar district suspension lists will begin on January 2, and the political parties that can participate in the elections will be announced by the YSK on January 2.
 
On January 3, political parties will be asked to inform the YSK about the procedures and principles by which they will nominate candidates in which electoral districts.
 
On January 4, the suspension lists of the muhtar's district and the suspension lists of detainees and convicts of negligent crimes will be suspended by the district election boards to be updated.
 
Applications will also begin for voters who are bedridden due to illness or disability, so that they can vote at mobile ballot boxes.
 

OTHER STAGES OF THE ELECTION CALENDAR ARE AS FOLLOWS:

 
January 10
 
Parties will announce in which electoral districts and with what procedures and principles they will nominate candidates by the end of the working day.
 
January 17
 
The suspension lists of the Mukhtar's district and the suspension lists of detainees and convicts of negligent crimes will be suspended. Objections regarding this will end. This date is the last day to query voter records on a building basis through YSK and e-Government Gateway. Last day for voters who are bedridden due to illness or disability to apply to the headman's office with a mobile ballot box request form to be sent to the district election board chairmanship or district election board chairmanship by a relative in order to be able to vote at mobile ballot boxes.
 
January 27
 
A lottery will be drawn and announced by the YSK to determine the places of political parties on the combined ballot paper.
 
January 31
 
Last day for political parties to submit their candidate lists to the relevant election boards.
 
7 February
 
Voter registers will be finalized, and the location and ballot boxes where voters will vote will begin to be determined.
 
February 11
 
The determination of the places and ballot boxes where voters will vote will be completed.
 
16 February
 
Provincial election boards will begin the necessary preliminary preparations for the printing of combined ballot papers.
 
20 February
 
Political party district presidents will prepare the lists of mayors, municipal council members, and provincial general council members and submit them until 17.00. Those who will be independent candidates can also apply for candidacy until 17.00 at the latest.
 
February 22
 
It is the last day for political parties to complete the shortcomings in their candidate lists.
 
February 23
 
Provisional candidate lists will be announced.
 
29 February
 
The printing and distribution of voter information sheets will begin.
 
March 3
 
Final candidate lists will be announced.
 
4 March
 
The formation process of the ballot box committees will be completed.
 
March 21
 
Election propaganda and bans will begin.
