While the economic crisis bends the back of the citizens, the representatives of the government ignore the bad economic picture. Giving examples especially from European countries, government administrators argue that high inflation and economic distress do not exist in Turkey. Lastly, speaking in the USA, President Erdoğan claimed that the effect of 80 percent inflation is less in Turkey. After the aforementioned statements, we discussed one by one the figures deeply felt by the citizens in Turkey.

54 PERCENT OF THE COUNTRY IS BELOW THE HUNGER LIMIT

President Erdogan tried to belittle 80 percent inflation by saying ‘I am an economist’. Despite the statements of Erdoğan, who claims that the shelves are empty in countries with 8-9 percent inflation, our country is experiencing the heaviest period of hunger and poverty in the history of the Republic. According to the statistics of Türk-İş Confederation, in August 2022, the poverty line for a family of 4 was calculated as 22,442 Turkish Liras (TL) and the hunger limit as 6,890 TL. According to these figures, the minimum amount of 5,500 TL wages remain below the hunger limit of 1,390 TL. According to the data in question, 54 percent of the citizens in Turkey, that is, 45,9 million people, live below the hunger limit. 42 percent of the population, or 35,7 million people, are struggling to live below the poverty line.

FOOD INFLATION IS HIGHER THAN UKRAINE IN WAR

Our country is at the top of food inflation in Europe, which government representatives give as an example at every opportunity. While Turkey leads the way in food inflation with 90 percent, the closest countries to our country are Hungary with 33 percent, Ukraine with 30,7 percent, Lithuania with 30,6 percent, Germany with 16 percent, Poland with 15 percent, and France with 7 percent respectively. It is noteworthy that there is a 60 percent higher food inflation in Turkey than in Ukraine, which is at war.

WE ARE DOWN AT THE MINIMUM WAGE!

In terms of minimum wage, Turkey is far behind European countries. Although the minimum wage has been increased by nearly 50 percent, when the dollar rate is 18 TL, the minimum wage in Turkey is 5,500 TL. It is equivalent to 305 Euros. Turkey was able to surpass only Albania among European countries in minimum wage.

THERE ARE 24 MILLION EXECUTIVE FILES
