According to Türk-İş's hunger and poverty line research for the month of July, the hunger limit for a family of four was announced as 11 thousand 658 TL and the poverty line as 37 thousand 974 TL.

The Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (Türk-İş) announced the hunger and poverty figures for July and the rise in food expenditures.
 
According to "Türk-İş" data, the hunger limit increased to 11,658 TL, exceeding the minimum wage, which rose to 11,402 TL last month.
 
The following warning was also included in the Türk-İş survey:
 
"This month, it was observed that there was a severe loss in purchasing power due to the high food prices. In addition to the depreciation of the Turkish Lira against foreign currencies, the increase in fuel prices, residential and shop rents due to the SCT regulation, constituted the main reasons for the loss of purchasing power. Turkey is in a period where the price pass-through of all kinds of cost increases is very high, and the very difficult pricing behavior created by inflation and exchange rate policy must be reversed."
 

INFLATION NUMBERS ARE RISING

 
According to the results of the "TÜRK-İŞ" survey for July 2023, the monthly food expenditure (hunger limit) required for a family of four living in Ankara to have a healthy, balanced and adequate diet reaches 11 thousand 658 liras.
 
The total amount of other monthly expenditures (poverty limit) that must be made for food expenditures and clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, health and similar needs increased to 37 thousand 974 liras.
 
The 'cost of living' of a single employee rose to 15 thousand 123 liras per month.
 

INFLATION IS 107 PERCENT COMPARED TO THE 12-MONTH AVERAGE

 
According to the data of "TÜRK-İŞ", the change in kitchen inflation was again upwards.
 
The increase in the minimum amount of food expenditure for a family of four living in Ankara was 12.38 percent compared to the previous month.
 
The seven-month change rate was 43.38%.
 
According to the research, the rate of change as of the last twelve months was 70.44 percent.
 
The rate of change according to the twelve-month averages was calculated as 107.54 percent.
 

MEAT HAS INCREASED 6 PERCENT AND CHICKEN 13 PERCENT IN A MONTH

 
The change observed in food products as of July 2023, and figures according to expenditure groups were also shared.
 
According to the research, while the price of milk and yoghurt did not change, the price of cheese increased by 4 percent on average.
 
In many of the national chain markets and local markets that continue to sell local meat in Ankara, ground beef took its place in the aisles at an average of 315 TL and an average of 340 TL per cubed meat.
 
In a month, an average of 6 percent increase in beef, 13 percent in chicken, 12 percent in fish, 9 percent in eggs, 7 percent in dry beans and 8 percent in green lentils.
 

MONTHLY BREAD EXPENDITURE IS 682 TL

 
In Ankara, 200 grams of white bread increased by 30 percent to 6.5 liras, while the monthly cost of bread for a family of 4 rose from 525 liras to 682.5 liras.
 
Prices of salad greens such as green onions and parsley and green leafy vegetables such as spinach and chard rose in neighborhood markets.
 
Potatoes and onions began to be sold for 20 liras.
 
Zucchini and eggplant prices remained stable, curly prices decreased.
 
Apart from these, the price of all vegetables on the counters has increased. This month's hike champion was melon with 135 percent.
