Tax call from Hak-İş President Mahmut Arslan… Arslan stated that the regulation on the tax collection for the minimum wage in last December was insufficient considering the economic conditions and called for "More wages should be excluded from taxation."
Mahmut Arslan, Chairman of Hak-İş Confederation, called on the government regarding the minimum wage tax bracket. Arslan emphasized that in such a difficult period in which the economy is in, the tax taken from the minimum wage bends the back of the laborer. Underlining that the regulations regarding the tax deductions in the minimum wage are not sufficient, Arslan said, “More wages should be excluded from taxation. We presented our demands on taxation to our ministers. We continue to insist on making the regulations on income tax as soon as possible.”
“WE SHOULD FIGHT THE COST OF LIVES”
Continuing his evaluations by stating that there are difficult times in the economy, Arslan, called for the fight against the cost of living. Arslan added, “We are living in a period of economic distress, inflation, price increases, high cost of living and collective bargaining agreements that have become symbolic. To combat these, we need a struggle that knows its problems well and produces solutions.”
