Malaysia stands by Palestinian resistance

Anwar Ibrahim, the new prime minister of Malaysia, promised to support the Palestinian struggle and to further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the people of Malaysia and Palestine during his term as prime minister.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who won the elections on November 19, made promising statements on behalf of the Palestinian struggle. Anwar Ibrahim, in his meeting with HAMAS leader Ismail Haniyeh, who called him to congratulate him on the election victory, once again reaffirmed the support given by the Malaysian people and state to the Palestinian struggle. The recordings of the interviews published by the Palestine Information Center angered the occupying Israel and made the resistance supporters very happy. 
 

ISMAIL HANIYEH CONGRATULATES ANWAR IBRAHIM 

 
Ismail Haniyeh, Head of Political Bureau of HAMAS (Islamic Resistance Movement), the largest resistance movement in Palestine, called Malaysian leader Anwar Ibrahim by phone and conveyed his congratulatory messages to the new prime minister. Haniyeh, who wished success to Anwar Ibrahim and the new Malaysian government, said, “I wish Malaysia to continue its role as one of the leading countries of the Islamic world. I hope with all my heart that Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim continues to support Palestinian cause and Malaysia will continue its forward stance in supporting the Palestinian people.”

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said: “I am very pleased to meet with the HAMAS Movement. The fraternal relations between the peoples of Malaysia and Palestine are very deep. Malaysia's stance on supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the rights of the Palestinian people in international gatherings will remain the same.”
