While there are only a few days left to the month of Ramadan, the continuation of the increase in meat prices causes great concern in the sector.
Meat prices continue to rise despite imports on the one hand and foot-and-mouth disease on the other.
According to the cutting prices published by the National Red Meat Council, the beef carcass amounted to 178 liras and the lamb carcass to 160 liras.
The continuation of the increase in carcass slaughtering prices means that the minced meat in the neighborhood butchers is constantly on the rise.
The weight of minced meat in the neighborhood butchers reached up to 250 liras.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Vahit Kirişçi, claimed that there was speculation in the meat market and announced that it would intervene in increasing prices.
However, the fact that prices continue to increase despite the intervention by importing live animals and meat reveals that there is a bigger problem in animal husbandry.
IT WAS SAID IT WAS DONE TO INTERVENTION IN THE MARKET BUT…
While the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry imports livestock from Uruguay, Hungary and Romania through the Meat and Dairy Authority (ESK), it also imports meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Poland.
While some of the imported meat was sold in the sales stores of the Meat and Milk Institution, the Ministry announced that carcass meat would also be sold to butchers and manufacturing companies in order to intervene in prices.
A SHOW SALE MADE TO BUTCHERS
While low-tonnage meat sales were made to butchers in Istanbul, it was revealed that carcass meat was sold to the leading brand companies of the Istanbul-based sector last week.
8 trucks of carcass meat were sold to 4 companies for 145 liras. However, the fact that carcass meat is sold under 30 liras to these companies without any price guarantee means that these companies have been a great success.
While these companies earn an average of 600 thousand liras in 1 truck, they will not contribute to the decrease in market prices since the carcass meat is not sold with a price guarantee.
WHY WAS “CHAPEST MEAT” GIVEN TO CERTAIN COMPANIES?
On the other hand, it is noteworthy that cheap carcass meat sales are limited to 3-5 companies.
The fact that the ESK did not sell the meat on hand to all companies that met the conditions in a balanced way, and limited the sale to 3-5 companies, strengthened its claims of offering.
IT WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THE CITIZENS!
Carcass meat sales made by the ESK to 3-5 companies for 145 liras will not have a reflection on the citizens since the price is not guaranteed.
Although these companies buy carcass meat at low prices, these companies will continue to sell their products at market prices.
While the so-called meat imports were made so that the citizens could consume meat more cheaply, the carcass meat imported by the IHC was not sold to the Agricultural Credit Markets at a low price for the benefit of the citizens, but to 3-5 companies, which brought up the questioning of the sale.
ONLY 500 TON MEAT WILL BE GIVEN TO AGRICULTURAL CREDIT MARKETS IN RAMADAN
According to the information received, the officials of the Meat and Dairy Agency confirmed that the Meat and Dairy Agency did not sell enough meat to the Agricultural Credit Markets despite the commitments made in January and February.
It is stated that it is planned to give only 500 tons of meat to the Agricultural Credit Markets during the month of Ramadan.
It is stated that 500 tons of meat will be packaged as minced meat and cubed and given to the Agricultural Credit Markets within the scope of a certain price guaranteed sale.
