Meat, milk and egg crisis!

Meat, milk and egg crisis!
Date: 4.10.2022 13:30

The livestock policy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock went bankrupt. While Turkey is being dragged into a milk crisis due to the wrong policies implemented, the meat crisis is at the door!

The milk producer became the victim of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. While the Ministry of Treasury and Finance does not allow an increase in raw milk prices on the grounds that it will increase inflation, the producer, who made a loss in the face of increasing input costs, quickly withdraws from production. While the number of female animals increased rapidly, milk production began to decrease rapidly.

Due to the decrease in milk production, the industrialist, who had been coy about milk prices until yesterday, came to the point where he could not find milk. Due to the decrease in milk production, the industrialist tries to find milk above 10 liras, leaving aside the reference price of 7.5 liras determined by the National Dairy Council.

Sencer Solakoğlu, President of All Dairy, Meat and Cattle Breeders Association (TÜSEDAD), said that there is a shortage of milk in the market and that's why the raw milk price has risen above the reference price of 7 liras and 50 kuruş determined by the National Dairy Council (USK).

Solakoğlu said the following regarding the crisis in the meat and milk market:

"With no goods left, a fight broke out for milk. If the cows are slaughtered, there will be no milk. He can't buy cheese on the shelf, even if he can afford it. We are there now. After this time, the hikes will come one after the other. Because the cows were slaughtered. When the cows are slaughtered, you will find neither meat nor milk."

“THIS TIME IT CANNOT BE CORRECTED AFTER THIS ERROR”

"An alternative to milk and meat is import. When you import, it means a raise of more than 50 percent. Unfortunately, we will have to bear the consequences of the mistakes made by all the institutions that try to regulate food inflation by trying to keep the price of the farmer stable, as 85 million. We have said it over and over and we continue to say it again. Whoever comes after this time cannot fix this mistake," he added.

"THE CRISIS IN RED MEAT IS NOT FEELED BECAUSE CITIZENS DON'T CONSUMPT MEAT!"

On the red meat side, the crisis in meat is not felt much for now, as the demand has dropped excessively. However, butchers expect a 30 percent hike in meat prices very soon. Despite the low demand for meat, the expectation of a 30 percent increase in meat prices also reveals the distress experienced by livestock. Despite the increasing feed costs, the breeder also slaughtered at a loss, which caused production to stop in many breeding farms.

Although the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that the import of livestock will be closed in 2022, the rush to open the import of 150,000 livestock livestock last month reveals the extent of the crisis. According to the information received from the sources of the Ministry, it is recorded that if the import of livestock is not opened, a report has been prepared that Turkey will face a serious meat crisis in the next 6 months.

EGGS HAS BEEN LUXURIOUS TO LOW INCOME CITIZENS!

On the other hand, the doubling of the prices of eggs, which is one of the basic foodstuffs of the citizens, in a short time made the citizen not even able to consume eggs anymore. While egg prices were 75-80 kurus until recently, the price of a 30-pack of eggs has risen to 70-80 liras with the recent high hikes. Pointing out that egg prices will continue to increase due to feed prices, sector officials stated that it is now impossible for low-income citizens to consume eggs, which are 2 to 2.5 liras each.
