The 70th Reading The Whole Qur’an (Khatim) Program organized by the Ancient Friends Group (Kadim Dostlar Grubu) was held in Istanbul Alms House (Darülaceze). Khatims were presented to the souls of many deceased, especially Mehmed Zahid Kotku and our teacher, the leader of the Milli Görüş, Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan. In the Khatim prayer, the victims of terrorism who lost their lives and were injured in the terrorist attack on Istiklal Street last week were not forgotten. While the Qur'an was recited for the souls of those who died in the heinous attack, prayers were said for healing for those who were treated while injured. Milli Görüş General Manager and Concession Holder Ömer Yüksel Özek was also present at the program attended by more than a thousand guests from politics, media, civil society and business world. Also in the program, Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) Engine Industry Corp. (TEI) General Manager Prof. Dr. Mahmut Faruk Akşit made a presentation on the developments in the engine industry.
“SULTAN FATIH DEFEATED HIS ENEMIES WITH WEAPON TECHNOLOGY”
TUSAŞ General Manager Prof. Dr. Mahmut Faruk Akşit who participated in the program as a special guest, made a presentation in which he talked about the importance of domestic and national defense technologies. Explaining the historical flow of domestic weapon technologies, Akşit said, “Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan was both a statesman and a scientist. He crushed all his enemies with technological superiority with his shah cannons. When we look at the cannons reflected in the photographs during the reign of Sultan Abdulaziz and the Battle of Gallipoli 450 years later, we can see that technological developments could not be followed and applied in the military field. In the First World War, we had to use the weapons produced by Germany. In the War of Independence, we defended ourselves with the weapons we seized from the enemy.”
“WE SELL GOODS AND SERVICES TO MANY COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD”
Talking about today's air technologies, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Akşit said, “There are two schools in air technologies; One is the Western school and the other is the Soviet school. Turkey produces in the Western school. Chinese and Indian air technologies just starting to develop. See, India struggled for 17 years to produce aircraft engines, but they had to leave without getting the desired result. We are currently maintaining the engines of warplanes of some Gulf countries. We also sell goods and services to the America continent. Since Japan is a country with a nationalist economy, it does not work with a foreign country. We can say that the only country where we do not work at the moment is Japan. Likewise, South Korea does not want to work with foreign countries because it has the same understanding as Japan, but because of Turkey's support in the Korean War, they open a workspace for us.”
