Milli Gazete columnist Mehmet Şevket Eygi, who has been receiving treatment for a while, passed away on Friday.

Eygi was discharged from Alibey Hospital in Eyüp, where he was hospitalized for kidney failure and was taken to the same hospital again after suffering at home. Eygi died at around 22.30 am despite all the interventions there.
 
Who is Mehmet Şevket Eygi?
 
Mehmet Şevket Eygi was born on 7 February 1933 in Zonguldak. After Galatasaray High School, he graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences.
 
Writing to a variety of newspapers as a columnist since 1970, and lastly was a columnist in Milli Gazete, Mehmet Şevket Eygi generally touched on issues such as Sufi life, bid'at movements, sectarianism, sabbathaism and Ottoman period.
 
Eygi also has published several books.
