Confederation of Public Servants Trade Unions (Memur-Sen) announced the hunger-poverty limit for December. According to the "hunger-poverty" survey, which is carried out regularly every month, the hunger limit for a family of 4 was determined as 3,526 Turkish Liras (TL) and the poverty line as 10,119 TL. According to the research, while there was an average of 10,6 percent increase in food prices in December compared to November, the most striking increase was in vegetables.
The most striking increases were experienced in eggplant with an increase of 59 percent, cucumber with an increase of 49,79 percent, wheat flour with an increase of 44,08 percent, and margarine with an increase of 43,87 percent. Notable decreases were experienced in cauliflower with a decrease of 29,47 percent, orange with a decrease of 16,31 percent, lettuce with a decrease of 10,26 percent, and red radish with a decrease of 8,01 percent.
WATER PRICES INCREASED 13 PERCENT
On the other hand, there was an increase of 10,4 percent in transportation item prices and an average of 7,35 percent in clothing prices. While there was a 7,55 percent increase in education-culture item prices in December, a 9 percent increase was observed in personal cleaning and care item prices. In addition, while an increase of 5,02 percent was observed in the prices of health products, there was an average increase of 5,33 percent in the prices of communication materials. The increase in environmental and water material prices was reflected as 12,88 percent.
