A new meeting will be held today between the Turkish Metal Union, which is organized in the metal sector, and the Turkish Employers Association of Metal Industries (MESS), which is the employer's union.
In the meeting proposal requested by MESS, the employers' union will present the new wage increase proposal to the table. In the MESS Group Collective Bargaining Agreement, which started in October and concerns 130,000 metal workers, the employer's offer of 12 percent wage increase was not accepted by the worker, and the process resulted in a dispute and was transferred to mediation.
Thereupon, workers protested against MESS by taking actions in the fields and factories.
THE OFFER OF MESS IS WONDERED
After the reactions from the workers' side, MESS reconvened with Turkish Metal last week. However, there was no result from the last meeting as MESS continued its insistence on the low wage offer. That's why all eyes are on the meeting to be held today.
