The Metal Industry Group Collective Bargaining Agreement, Turkey's largest collective bargaining agreement, will be held between the Turkish Metal Union and the Metal Industrialists Employer's Union (MESS).
Before the contract, Türk Metal Union announced its demands. The union announced a comprehensive list of demands for workers' personal and financial rights for two years.
While the negotiations of the last contract were continuing, Türk Metal Union carried out actions with wide participation and the wages of 125 thousand metal workers in the 2021-2023 period were increased by 27.44 percent in the first six months.
According to the statement made by the union, with the increase decided in the previous contract, the average wage of the workers was increased to 8 thousand 112 TL.
Before the 2023-2025 negotiations, it was announced that the average wage of the workers covered by the collective agreement was 20 thousand 436 TL.
80 percent increase in hourly wages in the first 6 months
Pointing out that the 2023-2025 collective bargaining negotiations, where the negotiations will begin, will cover 400 workplaces, the Union underlined that the contract to be made covers 145,33 union members.
At the beginning of the demands of the Turkish Metal Union is a regulation on hourly wages.
The hourly wages of workers who are under 65 TL are increased to 65 TL and hourly wages are increased by 80% in the first six months.
While a 150 percent increase was requested in the social rights of the employees only in the first year, the total demand for the first six months of the contract was 119.05 percent.
In addition to these demands, it was requested to pay 5 Thousand TL each month, in the form of advance payment, from the date the contract expires on 31 August 2023 until the signing date of the new contract.
While making separate requests for each period of the contract, an additional 5 points to the 6-month inflation rate announced for the second six-month period of the contract, an additional 5 points to the 6-month inflation rate announced for the third six-month period, and an additional 6-month inflation rate announced for the fourth six-month period. In addition to the annual inflation rate announced on 31 August 2024, an increase of 10 points was requested for the second year in social benefits.
