Turkey was shaken by the news of the earthquake from Kahramanmaraş and political parties that set aside the political agenda went to the earthquake zones and supported the earthquake victims.

However, shortly after the earthquake, the debate about the elections started. Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahceli, who took the issue to the agenda at the group meeting he held, also touched on the election debates.

Before the great earthquake disaster, the date for the election date began to become clearer.

While the issue fell from the agenda with the earthquake disaster, the stakeholders of the People's Alliance started to re-examine the issue.

MHP leader Bahçeli, in his last statement, before the government made a concrete election statement, "We neither run from the ballot box nor ignore democracy," he said.

MHP JOINS THE ELECTION DISCUSSIONS

The tension in politics increased after the People's Alliance bloc announced that elections could be held by pointing to the date of 14 May.

However, after two major earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, the political agenda was shelved. However, former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Bülent Arınç, who published a statement in the past weeks and stated that the elections should be postponed, started a new discussion regarding the elections.

While there were reactions to the statement from the opposition wing, it was noted that the election date should not be discussed at this time.

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahceli, who stated that the opposition made "politics over pain" during the earthquake process, made a new exit towards the election in the last group meeting.

At the meeting, Bahceli, who attacked the Nation Alliance with harsh words, noted the following regarding the elections:

"It should be known that we neither run from the ballot box nor ignore democracy."

EYES TURN TO THE AK PARTY

With the statement he made at the group meeting, there was no clear statement from the AK Party wing regarding the discussions on the election calendar.

While the election issue remained one of the most important topics on the agenda, the eyes were turned to the statements to be made by the AK Party, not knowing what effect this statement made by the partner of the People's Alliance, Bahçeli, would have on the AK Party.
