Discussions about whether to make an additional hike to the minimum wage continue to be on the agenda. While different statements are made between the government staff and the Ministry of Labor, according to the information reached by our newspaper, it is expected that the government will press the button for the increase in April.
WORKS WILL BE MADE IN APRIL, INCREASE IN JUNE
According to the information obtained, the government staff, unlike the ministry, is carrying out heavy traffic to raise the minimum wage. In these days when the economic concerns of the citizens come to the fore, the government staff, which is in search of a move towards the election, persuaded the Complex of this and negotiated with both the workers' side and the employer's side in April, asking for the additional hike to be applied in June. The desired figure is planned to be 5,100 TL with an additional increase of 850 TL, taking into account the hunger limit and inflation figures that exceed 4,500 TL. However, the figure may exceed 5,100 TL with the change of economic indicators is also stated.
THE GOVERNMENT STAFF IS PRESSING
However, this situation also caused controversy within the government. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance remained silent while the Ministry of Labor and Social Security closed the door for a second raise and threw the ball to the Parliament. The ruling staff, on the other hand, prioritizes the ‘economic complaints’ made especially from the provincial and district organizations to the headquarters and their reflections on the elections and insists on an additional raise. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statement yesterday, "When such an evaluation is required in the middle of the year as a result of the negotiations to be held, we will definitely not withhold such a thing from our citizens, especially from our workers", also strengthened the claims that studies will be carried out on additional raises.
MINIMUM WAGE EARNERS ARE IN HIGH EXPECTATION
According to official figures, the minimum wage, which was determined as 4,250 TL in the current economic conditions, where inflation exceeded 50 percent and exorbitant increases were made for all products from needle to thread, remained below the hunger limit in the second month of the year. While the hunger limit figures of the unions for February exceeded 4,500 TL, it is estimated that the figures for March will reach 5.000 TL. In the face of these economic indicators, millions are expecting an additional raise in the minimum wage.
