While the hunger limit in May is 6 thousand 17 Turkish Liras (TL), the figure for June is expected to reach 6 thousand 500 TL. In this case, the minimum wage, which was advertised as ‘6 thousand TL’ in the lobby, will still be below the hunger limit.
While the minimum wage earners have great hopes for the second hike, which is expected to be made for the minimum wage, the picture that emerges will still not be very encouraging. High inflation and rising cost of living will cause the minimum wage to not get out of the hunger limit spiral. The hunger limit for May, published by ‘Türk-İş’ Confederation, was determined as 6 thousand 17 TL. The hunger limit for June, which is expected to be announced in the coming days, is expected to exceed 6,500 TL. In such a case, the figures of 5 thousand and 5 thousand 900 TL circulating in the backstages of Ankara regarding the minimum wage will still be below the hunger limit.
THE HIKE TO BE GIVEN WILL EVAPORATE BEFORE THE END OF THE MONTH
The current minimum wage is about 2 thousand TL below the hunger limit. Even though the figure, which is planned to be made in July, narrows it down, the hunger limit figure will not remain constant. The data show that the rising trend of inflation will continue and the second hike in the minimum wage will evaporate before the end of the month. The minimum wage, which is above the hunger limit in just one month of the first six months of 2022, turns into hunger wages.
